Armed attack leaves two dead

SARGODHA: Two persons were killed when armed assailants opened fire on them in Chak 168/171-NB Mangala near Shah Nikdar, along Sillanwali Road. Deceased Nawaz Jhata and Sharif Baloch were attacked by gunmen who fled the scene. The Shah Nikdar police handed over the bodies to the heirs after postmortem examinations. Evidence collection is underway, and the police claim to have arrested the accused as investigations continue. ADMISSION: The University of Sargodha has received over 5,000 applications within days of announcing admissions for the Spring 2025 semester. The university is offering enrolment in 144 degree programmes across 41 departments and seven faculties, ranging from undergraduate to PhD levels. The deadline for online applications is Dec 12, 2024. Key dates include the display of the master list for application corrections on Dec 19, and merit lists for regular and self-support programmes from Dec 23 to Jan 13, 2025. Classes for all programmes will commence on Feb 3, 2025. MPhil and PhD programmes will be offered on a self-support basis, with the HAT test for PhD scheduled for Dec 16. Admission tests and trials, including those for sports-based admissions, Hafiz-e-Quran, and disabled quotas, will also be conducted in December.
