SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: A jirga of Mehsud and Burki tribal elders held in Upper South Waziristan district on Sunday demanded the release of funds for the completion of work on category-D hospital in Kanigoram area. The elders emphasised that the lack of a district headquarters hospital in Upper South Waziristan had caused significant difficulties for the Mehsud and Burki tribes. They informed deputy commissioner Saleem Jan, who was also present on the occasion, about the challenges faced by their communities due to the absence of a district headquarters hospital. The jirga highlighted that work on the category-D hospital in Kanigoram was inaugurated in 2004 by former governor Syed Iftikhar Hussain Shah, but the hospital project was yet to be completed.
