ULAANBAATAR: Pakistani cueist Asjad Iqbal had to suffice with a silver medal after losing 6-2 against India’s Kamal Chawla in the final of the IBSF World 6-Red Snooker Championship in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia on Wednesday. The contest saw Asjad make a strong start, winning the first two frames 47-13 and 47-18. However, Chawla staged a remarkable comeback, taking the next six frames to clinch the title. Chawla’s resurgence began in the third frame, where he crafted a stunning 71-break to reduce the deficit. He carried this momentum into the fourth frame, levelling the score with a convincing 41-7 win. Chawla’s precision and strategic play allowed him to dominate the proceedings, taking the next three frames 64-0, 43-0, and 33-20. Asjad threatened a late comeback in the seventh frame but ultimately fell short. Asjad, Pakistan’s reigning national champion, had an impressive run in the tournament, also securing a bronze medal in the Mongolia Snooker World Cup.
