CDA to install permanent decorative lights in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa has announced that decorative lights will be permanently installed in the city. Presiding over a meeting on Saturday, Mr Randhawa and other officials reviewed the Islamabad beautification plan and decided that decorative lights will be permanently installed in the city. In the first phase, LED floodlights will be installed along Constitution Avenue. The CDA chairman said the lights should be energy-efficient and cost-effective, emphasising that effective and permanent measures should be taken for the protection of lights. He also instructed that PC-I of the project be prepared and presented for approval at the earliest. He directed that all sign and direction boards installed in the city be immediately repaired and a plan be presented to beautify the city’s key buildings. He also directed that a team consisting of architects be formed to assist with the beautification plan. The meeting decided that all avenues in the city would be beautified in phases. During the briefing, it was informed that under the beautification plan, various plants had been planted to ensure that the city remained adorned with beautiful flowers throughout the year. The meeting was informed that the plan aims to balance the city’s natural beauty with modernity. It was also mentioned that symmetry be ensured among the elements contributing to the beautification of the city. CDA Chairman Mohammad Ali Randhawa also sought a plan for enhancing facilities at F-9 Park, adding that Fatima Jinnah Park would be developed as a centre for recreational activities. He directed that a comprehensive plan for this purpose be presented.
