Youth urged to work for promotion of national heritage

PESHAWAR: Speakers at a ceremony here on Tuesday encouraged young talent to work for the promotion of national and local heritage and play role in portrayal of positive image. The ceremony was organised to celebrate 60th anniversary of Pakistan Television with the spirit of patriotism. The participants of the ceremony paid glowing tributes to all those, who had contributed to various fields of the national transmission on air with an inclusive approach towards building a forward-looking society. PTV, Peshawar Centre efforts for promoting linguistic and cultural diversity achieved milestone whether education, information or entertainment, speakers said. Speakers said that PTV Peshawar produced legendary artists, singers and playwrights. The event, arranged at PTV Peshawar centre, was attended by a large number of artists, playwrights, folk singers, newsmen and employees of the national television. Ceremony held to celebrate 60th anniversary of PTV A cake cutting ceremony was also held to acknowledge the services of PTV. Heads of different departments at PTV Peshawar centre were present on the occasion. Former producers, resource persons and technicians were also among the participants. The general manager of PTV Peshawar, Ibrahim Kamal, in his opening remarks said that it was a great moment for all, who worked with the national institution in different capacities and made it a powerful platform for national integration, unity and an incredible identity marker over the last several decades. He said that PTV Peshawar alongside other national networks always performed its national duty to the fullest to come up to the aspirations of people. Senior Pashto writer Prof Abaseen Yousafzai remarked that services of PTV Peshawar were matchless, especially when it came to drama, documentaries on range of topics, current affairs shows and art and culture. Senior PTV artists including Shazma Haleem, Tariq Jamal, Iram Sahar and Manzoor Khan also spoke on the occasion. Prof Bakht Zaman, anchor person of a Pashto current affair show, said that documentaries, feature programmes and special shows for children, youth, women and senior citizens played a pivotal role in shaping the outlook of society. He said that PTV still believed in the trio principles of authenticity, accuracy and impartiality in imparting information to people. He added that despite social media, PTV had kept up its high standards that was why dramas and live shows in creating awareness were the lips of people. Asad Sohail, Sehrish Munwar Bukhari, Naushaba and Sameena Sahar said PTV motivated them to contribute to the society through their talent. Former PTV producers Masood Ahmad Shah and Ejaz Ahmad Niazi also spoke at the event.
