ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has removed tiles from the median in front of G-6 weekly bazaar within one year of their installations. Barely a year ago, CDA laid red coloured tiles on median of double road in front of teh weekly bazaar. However, all of them have been removed and now new tiles are being installed, sources told Dawn. “This is a sheer misuse of funds, CDA chairmanshould look into the issue and hold an inquiry,” said a CDA engineer. The work of replacing tiles is being done by market and road maintenance directorate of CDA. One of the official claimed that the work is being conducted without calling open tender. However, this claim could not be verified as CDA’s spokesperson was unable to provide details of this project. “The CDA management should also investigate whether this work is being conducted without calling a tender, I guess, this project will provide a big lead to other such projects,” the official said. He also claimed that tiles on median near Aabpara were also replaced recently. The project falls in the domain of directorate of Market and Road Maintenance (MRM) of CDA. CDA’s director media Shahid Kiani when contacted said that he would provide CDA’s point of view after getting input from director MRM Mashooq Ali Sheikh. After an hour, he was contacted but he said: “Since I could not reach the director MRM, I have no details about the project, but let me assure you, if anything wrong has been done, the management will take action,” he said.
