Murder suspect kills fellow prisoner in barrack

TOBA TEK SINGH: A prisoner at Faisalabad Central Jail, facing charges of murder and terrorism under Section 7 of the Anti-Terrorism Act (ATA), allegedly lynched another inmate involved in a rape case on Tuesday following a quarrel in their barrack. Reports said Muhammad Mahad (25) was arrested by the Sangla Hill police in Sheikhupura in 2020 and has been detained at the central jail since then. The victim, Sagar Amin Masih (18), also imprisoned since 2020, faced charges in a rape case. They both quarreled over some minor issue after which Mahad hit him with bricks as a result Sagar was critically injured. He was shifted to Allied hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Khurrianwala police have registered a case against Mahad under Section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 7 of the ATA. : A youth opted for suicide after murdering his cousin at Chak 715 GB located in Kamalia tehsil on Tuesday. Reports said Sikandar Shahbaz (20) of Harappa, Sahiwal, wanted to marry his maternal uncle’s daughter Hina Aftab (18) but her parents had rejected his proposal. He came to the house of his uncle on Tuesday and he first shot Hina Aftab dead and then also shot himself. The girl was the daughter of a former union council chairman Pir Syed Aftab Hussain. : A woman died and six members of her family injured critically after a speeding bus hit a car and then the car collided with a mini truck on Guttwala toll plaza located on Sheikhupura Road, Faisalabad, on Tuesday. After hectic efforts, Rescue 1122 staffers pulled out trapped persons from the damaged vehicles. A woman identified as Hifza Bibi (40) was found dead. The six wounded included her two sons Abdul Hadi (12) and Muhammad Ibrahim (8), her brother-in-law Muhammad Irfan (42), his wife Shafaq Irfan (35), his two daughters Hiba Irfan (3) and 18-month-old Huda Irfan. All were residents of Raza Garden locality of Canal Road. The Government College University Faisalabad organised on Tuesday an awareness walk and seminar on diabetes which was led by Vice Chancellor Dr Rauf-i-Azam and attended by coordinator of the Department of Public Health and chief organiser Dr Ali Siftain, Dr Abid Rasheed, Dr Faisal Bilal Lodhi, Dr Badar Bashir, Dr Ahmed Shahzad in addition to a large number of university teachers and students. VC Dr Rauf said diabetic patients need to change their lifestyle and lead a healthy life. Physical exercise should be made a regular part of daily routine along with a balanced diet. He said diabetes is a lifelong disease and constant medical care is required to avoid its complications.
