ISLAMABAD: All educational institutions in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad will remain closed for a third consecutive day on Wednesday (today). Officials from the district administrations said the decision was made given the prevailing law and order situation in Islamabad and Rawalpindi in the wake of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) . On Sunday, the government decided to keep all public and private educational institutions in Islamabad closed. Life in the twin cities has been crippled by blockades meant to thwart protesters from reaching the federal capital. However, protestors were able to make it to D Chowk despite stiff resistance from law enforcers. Currently, PTI marchers have been encamped on the Jinnah Avenue in Blue Area. Meanwhile, Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema said educational institutions were closed on the recommendation of the District Intelligence Committee. Officials further said the holidays are expected to prolong with the sit-in in Islamabad.
