KARACHI: Army pulled off a stunning 2-1 upset over top-seeded SNGPL here on Wednesday in the semi-finals of the Combaxx-Roshan Khan National Team Championship, setting up a finale against Wapda. Asim Khan’s five-set loss to Ashab Irfan was offset by Saddam-ul-Haq’s clinical win over Amaad Fareed and Huzaifa Ibrahim’s crucial victory. Wapda, meanwhile, dominated Punjab 3-0 in the other semi-final, with Noor Zaman and Abdullah Khawar delivering commanding wins. In the women’s pool stage, Wapda edged Sindh 2-1, led by stellar performances from Mehwish Ali and Damya Khan. Army thumped Punjab 3-0 in another decisive encounter, with standout contributions from Faiza Zafar and Zaynab Khan. The stage is now set for an exciting finale, with Army taking on Wapda in both the men’s and women’s finals on Thursday.
