TAXILA: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has lauded Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s address at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) highlighting key global issues, particularly the situations in Kashmir and Gaza. He expressed these views while speaking at a groundbreaking ceremony of a 9.6km road project worth Rs158 million for village Jalwal, Kotchajji and Mari, Tehsil Jand in Attock. The fund for the project was provided by OGDCL under Corporate Social Responsibility. He said the prime minister rightfully represented the stance of Islamic world on the situation of Kashmir and Palestine at the UNGA. The governor SAID the prime minister’s speech reflected the aspirations of both the Kashmiri and Palestinian people. The governor vowed to appoint vice chancellors of universities on merit, adding that in the past fake and dubious degree holders got appointed as VCs in violation of merit. He said that Attock district would embark on a new era of development and prosperity as work on a number of development projects was underway. He said that besides the establishment of a dialysis centre in Fatehjang, a state of the art facility would start functioning in Pindigheb with the help of local donors. He added that feasibility work on the upcoming sub-campus of Punjab University in Fatehjang and a sub-campus of UET Taxila in Jand was ongoing. He hoped that enrollment in these sub-campus would begin in the next academic session. He added that work on incomplete building of Agriculture University Attock campus will start soon. Fatehjang and Jand Tehsils are less developed and now after having these two campuses an educational revolution will take place in these areas, he added. Later, the governor performed the groundbreaking of a water supply scheme in Achri village in Jand. The water supply scheme would be executed at an estimated cost of Rs3 million. He also announced provision of an ambulance service for dwellers of the area.
