RAWALPINDI: All the PTI protesters detained by the police during clashes in the city will be sent to the district jail in Attock. Police sources said due to crowding and sensitivity, the PTI protesters will not be kept in the Central Jail Adiala after completion of their physical remand. On the other hand, the police have started identifying the protesters involved in clashes with police and violating section 144 in the garrison city. The sources said more than 170 protesters had been detained so far by the police as 21 protesters were arrested by the Dhamial police during the last two days while 27 were taken into custody by the Sadiqabad police. The 21 protesters arrested by the Dhamial police were remanded in police custody for five days by the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) and they will be produced before the court after completion of the remand on November 30. Likewise, the PTI protesters arrested by Sadiqabad police had been remanded in police custody for three days by the ATC. On the other hand, the garrison city remained under police lockdown on the third day on Tuesday as all link roads of Murree Road remained blocked with heavy trucks and containers and deployment of hundreds of police to prevent PTI protesters from marching to Islamabad. However, no leader or worker of the PTI showed up in any part of the city to protest on Tuesday. The funeral prayer of the martyred police constable Mohammad Mubashir Bilal was offered at the Police Lines Headquarters on Monday night. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi attended the funeral prayer and pledged to bring the culprits to justice and paid tribute to the deceased. Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, who was also present, said 119 police officials were also injured – two of them in critical condition. Besides, 22 police vehicles were damaged by the PTI protesters, he said. Mubashir Bilal, constable of Punjab police, died in the DHQ hospital Rawalpindi from critical head injuries he sustained during clashes with PTI protesters. Later, his body was sent to his native town.
