RAWALPINDI: Police officers and officials throughout Punjab have been instructed to wear hard helmets and bulletproof jackets for their protection during raids and security checks. Besides, the Special Branch has been instructed to submit a weekly report to the inspector general of police Punjab about the implementation of directives. A directive issued by Additional Inspector General of Police Punjab Zahid Nawaz to all divisional police chiefs, additional inspector general of police Special Branch, district police chiefs, including CPO Rawalpindi and CCPO Lahore, said since the police personnel were of utmost importance, proper SOPs should be observed by all police personnel while performing duties. The directive further said it had already been conveyed time and again that police personnel shall put on bulletproof jackets and helmets while on duty or security. The authorities conveyed to all police personnel that if any officer or official was found not wearing bulletproof jacket or helmet during raids and security duty would personally be held responsible for sheer violation of instructions issued by the senior command.
