KARACHI: The KC Jinko Solar National Juniors and Seniors Tennis Championship pre-quarterfinals and quarter-finals of different categories were held here at Karachi Club on Wednesday. In the men’s singles pre-quarterfinals, Mohammad Salar beat Kashan Tariq 8-4, Aboubaker Talha outclassed Vinod Das 8-2, Ahtesham Humiyoon comfortably outgunned Haziq Areejo 8-2 and Asad Zaman downed Taimoor Ansari 8-3. The men’s singles quarter-final featured a close contest where Mahatir Mohammad edged past Parbat Kumar 9-7. Taimoor secured a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win against Junaid Meher in the juniors U-18 singles pre-quarterfinal. In the quarter-finals, Ahtesham defeated Mohammad Yahya 6-1, 7-5 while Mohammad Hamza Asim crushed Ruhab Faisal 6-2, 6-2. In the boys U-14 singles pre-quarterfinals, Laraib Shamsi outplayed Mustafa Chottani 4-0, 4-1. Muzammil Bhand overcame Zayd Zaman 4-1, 4-2, Ansarullah struggled to prevail over Junaid Meher 4-2, 2-4, 5-3 while Mohammad Maaz edged past Rohan Das 5-4, 5-4 in the quarter-finals of the same category. Daliah Shazim displayed her dominance in the girls U-18 singles quarter-final as she blanked Sabrina Khan 8-0. The quarter-final saw Suraya Bus claim a facile 8-0 victory against Meerab Fatima. In the girls U-14 singles semi-finals, Eschelle Asif overwhelmed Inara Akram 4-0, 4-0 while Khadija Khalil defeated Romesa Malik 4-0, 5-4. The girls U-12 singles quarter-finals saw Khadija Khalil beat Eman Shahbaz 4-0, 4-0. Rania Bakhsh and Zoha Imad also advanced, defeating Ayla Farhan 4-0, 4-1 and Areeba 4-1, 4-0, respectively. In the U-10 singles pre-quarterfinals, Keeyan Bus secured a 5-3, 3-5, 4-2 victory against Rahim Faisal. In the 35-plus doubles first round, Asad Ali Bhagat and Khalid Ali Nazar achieved an 8-3 win over Noman Farid and Qamar Habib.
