Officials in Michigan sound optimistic the state will have final unofficial results from the election by mid-day tomorrow — if not earlier — pointing to new rules that allowed clerks to begin processing absentee ballots on October 28, . “This year, it’s a little bit different and a lot more efficient,” Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson told reporters. Clerks were able to begin pre-processing and feeding those ballots into machines last week, she added. “That puts us in an extremely good position to handle any late coming ballots that are returned on Tuesday or today,” Benson said. “All that to say, is we’ll see how things unfold, but I’m very optimistic and hopeful that we’ll have those unofficial results in sooner than we did in 2020.”
