SUKKUR: A three-wheeler carrying a woman and her four children fell into a pond of sewage in Qureshi
SUKKUR: A three-wheeler carrying a woman and her four children fell into a pond of sewage in Qureshi Goth within the city on late Friday evening. Rescue 1122 personnel took out the bodies of the woman and one male child after hours-long efforts while a search for the other three children was continuing, police and local residents said at around midnight. The victims could not be identified but the circumstantial evidence suggested that the family might have been destined for a nearby locality to attend a marriage ceremony. Locals said that the three-wheeler, meant for transporting goods, plunged into the pond apparently after its driver lost control of the vehicle due to its high speed. It overturned on the edge of the deep sewage pond and skidded into it, they said. A large number of Qureshi Goth residents rushed to the spot soon after the incident. They called out the police and Rescue 1122 and also helped the rescuers locate and take out the victims. Whereabouts and fate of the vehicle’s driver were also not known.
