ISLAMABAD: The Nepali embassy celebrated its country’s national day on Friday night, with its ambassador Tapas Adhikari emphasising the importance of enhanced economic cooperation between the two countries. Nepali Ambassador Tapas Adhikari also shared his four years experience in Pakistan with the guests. “My last four years have been fruitful, memorable and productive, which was not possible without the cooperation of members of both the diplomatic community and friends in Pakistan,” Mr Adhikari said. “I would like to thank the government of Pakistan for its cooperation in successfully achieving my mission. Pakistan will be in my heart forever,” the ambassador said. Among the guests who attended the reception to celebrate the occasion were Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, ambassadors, members of the business community as well as friends of Nepal. Ambassador Tapas Adhikari extended his heartfelt gratitude to all the guests for joining the reception. He described Nepal as a learning centre for mountaineering where large number of foreign tourists visited for trekking and mountaineering and other adventure-related activities. “Diverse culture and hospitality offers unforgettable experiences in Nepal,” he added. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari lamented that both countries were on the receiving end of the impacts of climate change although Pakistan and Nepal had little carbon foot print. He called for cooperation between the two countries and called for taking practical measures to counter this “horrible reality”. He congratulated Nepal on its National Day and wished Ambassador Adhikari the best for his future.
