KARACHI: A 56-year-old man was found shot dead in his Gulshan-i-Iqbal home on Friday, police and hospital officials said. They added that Faisal Israr Zaidi was found dead inside his home in Block-10 near Rehmania Masjid with gunshot wounds. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. Police surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed said that there was a single gunshot wound in the head. “We have collected samples for gunshot residue,” she added. SSP-East Dr Farrukh Raza said the body was found inside the house and a pistol and one spent bullet casing were also recovered from the spot. “Circumstances, which led to the death, are not ‘clear’ for which an investigation has been launched,” he said, adding that the Crime Scene Unit of the police had collected evidence. He said there were no eye-witnesses. The police had obtained information from the neighbours. So far, no evidence has emerged that anyone had entered the home. CCTV cameras had also been obtained. Aziz Bhatti SHO Saeed Ahmed told Dawn that it appeared to be a ‘suicide’. He said CCTV footage showed that no one had entered the home while security guards were also posted on both streets leading to the residence. He said other family members were present in the upper portion of the home at the time of the incident. He said the deceased was an admin officer at a private company. The deceased’s brother Aijaz told the police that his brother was father of three children. Three persons were injured in a gas pipeline explosion in the Landhi area on Friday. Quaidabad police said that the explosion occurred at Gul Ahmed Chowrangi, near Al Jadoon School. As a result, Sohrab Raheem, 48, Sher Akbar, 45, and Waqas Atiq, 13, were injured. They were shifted to a hospital for treatment.
