SUKKUR: Armed men shot dead a man and a 10-year-old girl after storming their way into their house in a village within Madeji town of Shikarpur district on Monday. The girl’s mother was wounded in the attack. Officials at the New Amrot police station said that the assailants barged into the house of Mehboob Jafferi in Aurang Abad village and opened fire on him. He and the young girl, Fatima, daughter of Ghulam Haider Jafferi, received fatal bullet wounds, they said, adding that the girl’s mother, Nooran Jaffery, was wounded in the attack. She was rushed to a major hospital within Sukkur district for treatment. The bodies were handed over to the heirs after a postmortem examination. The police believed that the attack was linked to an old enmity between two rival groups of the Jafferi community. A youth sitting in a medical store was shot dead by unknown assailants riding motorcycles in the Chak area of Shikarpur district on Monday, officials at the Rustam police station said. They said that the assailants entered the local market, opened fire at the youth, Saddam Mahar, son of Gulzar Mahar, and sped away. The body was shifted to the Khanpur Mahar Hospital for a postmortem examination and then handed over to the heirs. The murder was attributed to personal enmity between the assailants and the victim.
