PESHAWAR: Health experts have called upon the medical scientists and students to carry out research in the field of medical sciences to effectively cope with the challenges posed by new and re-emerging infectious diseases. Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the two-day international research conference titled “Emphasis on Promoting Medical Research ” at the Khyber Medical College on Wednesday, Prof Dr Rizwan Taj, president Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), said the promotion of research in the medical field was indispensable for improving the nation’s health. He stressed that the medical institutions should focus on research to elevate healthcare standards at the national and global level. The event saw the participation of renowned medical experts, researchers, and medical students from across the country to promote modern research trends and innovations in the field of medicine. In the two months before the research conference, more than 50 workshops were conducted in major public hospitals across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, benefiting doctors, students and other medical staff. During the conference, several pharmaceutical companies set up stalls and city tours of Peshawar along with a gala dinner were also organised for the participants Dr Umar Ayub Khan, chairman of the board of governors along with members of the organising committee, Dean of Khyber Medical College Prof Dr Mahmud Aurangzeb, chief organiser Prof Dr Bashir Ahmad and others also attended the moot. Dr Umar Ayub Khan said that the Khyber Medical College had always been at the forefront of research and this conference was aimed at informing medical experts and students about modern research methods. He urged the researchers to develop new treatments and methodologies, based on cutting-edge research, so that the public could benefit from improved and quality healthcare services. At the conclusion of the event, the speakers praised Khyber Medical College’s research achievements and congratulated the organisers for their successful efforts. They expressed the confidence that the conference would actively promote research and innovation for the development of medical sector.
