SWABI: Awami National Party (ANP) provincial leaders are striving to reconcile between leaders of the two rival groups of party’s local chapter who had contested elections against each in intra-party elections, sources in the party told Dawn on Sunday. The election was won by Asifur Rehman group against rival Haqqani group. Sources said that soon after the election, it was decided by the party’s provincial leadership that both winners and losers would be invited to Bacha Khan Markaz Peshawar for a reconciliation meeting to shun their differences. Sources said that the winning candidates were asked by the party leadership to visit the residences of the defeated party workers, on which Asifur Rehman visited the resident of Ghulam Haqqani and similarly the other winners also paid courtesy visits to defeated candidates. CYLINDER BLAST: A teenager was injured in a gas cylinder blast in a shop near Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estate, said rescue officials. Following the blast, a fire broke out in the gas cylinder shop. The rescue teams and firefighters reached the spot and managed to extinguish the fire. The injured boy was taken to Tehsil headquarters hospital for medical treatment, the officials added.
