ISLAMABAD: Overseas Pakistanis have shown a keen interest in Sector C-14, as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has received around 500 applications from expatriates against 238 plots measuring one kanal. December 30 was the deadline for the submission of applications, and over 1200 people, including around 500 overseas Pakistanis, applied for the plots in this sector. The CDA is going to hold e-balloting for allotting 238 plots measuring one kanal each against a fixed rate of Rs60 million. Sector C-14 is located in the foothills of Margalla along the newly built Margalla Road. According to CDA officials, the civic agency, as per its announcement, will prefer overseas Pakistanis, and locals would be placed on the waiting list. “We have 500 applications from overseas Pakistanis against 238 plots, so we will hold balloting for the overseas first. It seems the majority of plots would be procured by the overseas Pakistanis,” said an official of the CDA. Over 500 expats apply for 238 plots of one kanal He said all applicants were serious, as locals paid around Rs13,000 in the processing fee while overseas Pakistanis paid $50 in fees. The officer said that after concluding this auction, the CDA will also go for the auction of residential plots in another sector, likely I-12 and C-15. Meanwhile, a press release said CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa chaired a review meeting on Monday regarding the balloting of residential plots in Sector C-14. During the briefing, it was said that after the submission of the deadline, the data was being reconciled, and a preliminary list of applicants would be published on the CDA’s website on or before January 3, while the applicants would have two days to raise any objections to the list, following which the final list would be prepared. Meanwhile, the development work in the said sector is underway at full pace, with the CDA chairman saying that before the completion of the installments against a 10-month payment plan, the buyers would be handed over the possession of plots by the civic body. On Monday, the CDA chief also met the chief operating officer of Iesco for the resolution of pending issues between the CDA and the power supply company, including grid stations for Sector C-14 and adjoining sectors.
