KARACHI: A woman was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband in the name of so-called honour on the outskirts of the metropolis on Wednesday. Police said that Ali Hasan Sheikh was arrested for murdering his 42-year-old wife, Parveen, in Sector-17-A of Shah Latif Town. Area SHO Mumtaz Marwat told that the couple, along with their seven children, had moved here from Larkana around nine months ago. They worked here in a factory, he added. The SHO said that the suspect told the police that when he returned from his workplace on Wednesday he saw a man leaving his house. He said he had suspicion about her character and in a fit of anger he attacked his wife, initially with a hammer, and later stabbed her. He expressed no remorse over his act, the police officer said. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for medico-legal formalities. The police said that the victim was the mother of five sons and two daughters. A man took his own life in his Clifton apartment on Wednesday, police said. DIG-South Syed Asad Raza told that Meer Wais, 31, hanged himself with a ceiling fan in the sixth-floor flat in Block 8 early in the morning. The deceased’s father told the police that his son was facing some financial troubles due to which he took the extreme step. The body was shifted to the JPMC for medico-legal formalities. In another incident, 26-year-old Irshad Munawar ended his life by hanging himself with a ceiling fan inside his home in Azizabad. Area SHO Amir Azam said the family told the police that he was “emotionally involved” with a girl. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.
