BAJAUR: A police constable was killed after a man opened fire at him in Barang tehsil of Bajaur tribal district here on Saturday evening, police and residents said. They told reporters that the firing occurred in the mountains Solay locality. They said that the policeman was going to home when a local started firing at him, killing him on the spot. DSP Abdul Aziz told Dawn that the police official, identified as Islam Khan, was on way to his village when a resident, Hazrat Umar, opened fire at him with a rifle. He said the constable died immediately, while the attacker managed to flee the scene after committing the murder. The police official said that an investigation had been launched to ascertain the motive behind the incident. He said that efforts were afoot to trace the attacker. The official also didn’t rule the possibility of personal enmity behind the murder.
