Two killed as man opens fire during Swat jirga

SWAT: Two persons were killed and three others injured when a man opened indiscriminate fire during a jirga in Islampur village here on Sunday. The jirga convened to reconcile a couple took a tragic turn when the husband, Shaukat, who is himself a police officer, opened fire on the jirga participants. According to the police, the firing claimed the lives of two jirga members, Dr Imran, and Sarfaraz, a police official. Shaukat’s gunfire also injured his wife and two other women. The accused fled the scene after the incident. The police registered a case and launched an investigation.
