Warren — a city in Michigan which is the largest jurisdiction in the state that didn’t take advantage of a new law allowing for localities to begin processing their early votes — is well on its way to processing and tabulating early ballots, a state official familiar with the counting told . The official tells that Warren has processed and counted at least 10,000 ballots, with another 17,000 left to go, as of 4pm ET. Warren expects to be finished with its count at 2 am ET. Macomb County Clerk Anthony Forlini, where Warren is located, previously expressed concern Warren would slow down the count by not starting to process until this morning. However, Warren’s Clerk Sonja Buffa defended her decision to wait, saying it was a matter of election integrity.
