SAHIWAL: The district police arrested a suspect who was charged with blasphemy by the Saddar Police Station, Chichawatni, on Sept 21. He was arrested from Islamabad on Monday night. DPO Faisal Shahzad confirmed with that the suspect was arrested and shifted for interrogation. learnt from sources that the suspect was presented in front of Anti-Terrorist Court Special Judge Zia ur Rehman who gave police nine-day remand for the man. The judge fixed Oct 3 for the next hearing. The first information report, registered on the complaint of an ASI, alleged that the man, a resident of Chak 107/12-L, was posting hate material against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on his Facebook account. The DPO said that the suspect’s wife and children who were taken into custody had been released and sent back home. Earlier, police were keeping them at an undisclosed location.
