PESHAWAR: The lawyers’ wing of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) has offered free legal aid to the party workers and announced to fully participate in the Nov 24 protest in Islamabad. During a news conference held at the Peshawar Press Club on Monday, Moazzam Butt advocate, the secretary general of the lawyers’ wing, stated that PTI lawyers nationwide would offer free legal assistance to the leadership and workers during the protest movement. According to Mr Butt, Imran Khan’s wife, Bushra Bibi, and sister, Aleema Khan, were overseeing the preparations for the protest movement, which involved lawyers and other party leaders. He said the PTI insisted that national institutions should operate within the parameters set forth in the Constitution. Mr Butt claimed that the PTI was fighting for the rule of law and that it would never change its position. He asserted that since the public intended to willingly support Imran Khan’s release, the party leadership now had an obligation to present a better plan. According to him, the 26th Constitutional Amendment was deemed unconstitutional by his party. Thelawyers’ wing representative said that a resolution had already been passed by the Peshawar legal community rejecting the modification. In response to a query, he said that the PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari should refrain from making careless statements.
