KARACHI: Pakistan will shortly expand its diplomatic representation to five more places, it was reliably learned in Karachi yesterday [Sept 26]. A Pakistan “representative will shortly be sent to the Republic of Indonesia, reciprocating Indonesia’s representation in Pakistan. It is further understood that the Pakistan Government have decided to open diplomatic offices at Consulate level in Akyab and Basra, and at Legation level in Damascus and Kashgar. The new diplomatic appointments are expected to be made within a month’s time. [Meanwhile, according to news agencies from Washington,] The Shah of Iran, who is planning an official visit to this country [US] in November, will travel here aboard President Truman’s personal plane the Independence. Originally the Shah planned to make the trip by sea, arriving here on Nov 30. On his arrival, he will be the guest of President Truman for a few days at Blair House. The Shah will then begin a three-week tour which will include visits to industrial plants, and to power, irrigation and land reclamation projects. This will be the Shah’s first visit to the United States.
