RAWALPINDI: Two police officials were booked after one of the three gang rape suspects escaped from police custody while being shifted from Lahore to Naseerabad police station in Rawalpindi on Thursday. SI Shaukat Ali lodged an FIR with the Naseerabad police saying that he was on duty at night when received a phone call from SI Ghulam Hasnain saying that one of the accused had escaped. The police official said when they reached a petrol pump one of the accused told the policemen that he wanted to use toilet at the petrol pump to respond to a call of nature. He went inside the washroom and later managed to escape after scaling the rare wall of the toilet. SI Shaukat said on receiving the call, he along with a constable reached the scene and took the custody of the two remaining accused, while Ghulam Hasnain SI and Yazdan Ijaz started a search for the escapee. He further said they waited for the policemen but they did not return. A police spokesman said that a police team was constituted to arrest the the accused.
