Biometric attendance in offices ordered

RAWALPINDI: Commissioner Aamir Khattak on Friday directed that biometric attendance should be ensured immediately in all government departments. Chairing a review meeting, he said salaries of government officials and officers will be linked with biometric attendance. He said due to unnecessary absenteeism in public dealing offices, important works of citizens faced undue pending causing inconvenience for them. Therefore, he said, it was important that all officials should be present in their offices during office hours for the guidance and convenience of the public. He said by next week he will pay snap visits to offices to review the attendance as well as performance. Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema, RDA Director General Kinza Murtaza and heads of other provincial government departments participated in the review meeting of the Divisional Coordination Committee whereas as the deputy commissioners of Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal and Murree participated through video link. The commissioner said the deputy commissioners should prepare a detailed emergency rescue and relief plan for their districts and ensure the availability of essential commodities in abundance as well as the presence of essential medicines in hospitals. “All precautionary measures should be taken to ensure adequate staffing and maintain law and order situation,” he said. Also, control rooms should be established at the tehsil level for on-ground situation monitoring. He directed that a list of mega schemes of all departments, which were stalled due to non-availability of funds, should be presented at the earliest so that these can be completed after obtaining approval from the concerned forum.
