SARGODHA: Three people accused of a double murder in Sargodha were acquitted after the prosecution failed to present sufficient evidence here on Tuesday. Saad Imran, Bashir Gara and Anwar were arrested for allegedly killing Nasrullah and Riaz in Kot Momin. Police claim that the suspects are influential, so witnesses did not come forward due to fear. Additional District and Sessions Judge Zaigham Abbas Rizvi declared the accused innocent. After a successful pilot project in the city’s Botanical Garden, Sargodha is set to open small public libraries in various parks, including Rehmatul Alameen Park and Company Bagh. This initiative, part of the ‘Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab’ campaign, aims to benefit students and the general public. A committee led by Deputy Director Admin and Finance Shafiqur Rehman is working on the project. Open manholes across Sargodha, including in affluent areas, are endangering pedestrians, particularly children. Recently, a girl fell into an uncovered manhole but was rescued by passersby. Residents appealed to municipal authorities to address the issue to ensure public safety. The Department of Communication and Media Studies at the University of Sargodha hosted the inaugural meeting of its Alumni Executive Forum. Alumni, faculty, and leaders, including the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Qaiser Abbas, discussed infrastructure improvements and reforms.
