ISLAMABAD: Political speeches decrying the incumbent government and the judiciary dominated the religious gathering organised by the Milli Yekjehti Council (MYC) and the Majlis Wahdat Muslimeen (MWM) on Sunday. The event titled ‘Ishq-i-Payambar-i-Azam - Markaz Wahdat Muslimeen’ conference commenced with highlighting the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), but the focus soon shifted towards Palestine and the political situation in the country Addressing the conference, MYC President Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohammad Zubair said it was the blessing of unity that the decision in Mubarak Sani case was returned. Head of Sunni Ittehad Council Pakistan Sahibzada Mohammad Hamid Raza said cruelty was reaching its peak in Gaza, but “if you look at it today, we are also facing the situation like Gaza in Pakistan”. He said the MYC should meet at D-Chowk to free the people from this siege, adding that “it seemed our state has officially recognised Israel”. MYC General Secretary Liaquat Baloch said it was surprising that the government did not allow Miladun Nabi at the designated place in Islamabad. In his speech, Majlis-i-Wahdat Muslimeen head Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas condemned the government’s attempt to hinder the conference, terming it a reprehensible move. “No one can stop the programme of remembrance of Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),” he said, adding that, “we support the oppressed people of Gaza and will continue to do so. The government wants to spread chaos through terrorism in Parachinar”. Allama Hasnain Gardezi, Allama Syed Ahmad Iqbal, Khawaja Mudassar, Mohammad Abdullah Gul, Syed Fida Bukhari, Allama Arif Wahidi, Syed Nasir Shirazi, Pir Atiq Chishti, Syed Asad Naqvi, Syed Ali Abbas, Maysam Kazim, Sabz Ali and Syed Ali Akbar Kazmi also addressed on the occasion.
