LAKKI MARWAT: A village council chairman was killed when unknown motorcyclists attacked him near Multan Manjiwala area in Lakki Marwat district on Tuesday. Police said that the firing attack took place in the area limits of the city police station, wherein a villager, Javed was also injured. They said that VC chairman Sadullah and his relatives and villagers were playing cards at a hotel when four masked men on two motorcycles came there, and two of them sprayed him with bullets. They said that Sadullah was critically wounded and died instantly, while the assailants fled the scene toward Manjiwala Chowk on their motorcycles. Police said that the body and the injured were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Naurang, from where the body was brought to Government City Hospital for autopsy. Mohammad Naseem Khan, brother of the deceased, told the police in his preliminary report that his brother was an influential elder and he would always engage in peace efforts. He said that the deceased denounced militancy besides he would assemble people to counter militants in the area. The complainant told the police that militants were behind the murder of his brother. The police said that they had registered a case against unknown killers under relevant sections of the law and initiated further investigation.
