Collaboration on renewable energy

TOBA TEK SINGH: The University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited (PSMCL) inked on Friday an agreement to collaborate in research and development of biogas technology and organic fertilises. It was signed by UAF VC Dr Muhammad Sarwar Khan and PSMCL Managing Director Hiroshi Kawamura. As per the accord, UAF and Pak Suzuki will work together on cooperative research and development initiatives, including research and development on renewable energy, specifically biogas plant and organic fertilisers, resource exchanges, information transfer, and student training to promote innovative and advance research, education and community service. The area of cooperation includes design and development of biogas plant as per international standards and purification of biogas up to 95-99pc. They will collaborate to design and develop organic fertiliser place and will work to develop organic fertiliser products along with development of sales channel of organic fertiliser products. They will also engage students in collaborative projects and cooperate in research collaboration in areas of mutual interest like international seminars, awareness campaigns, workshops and conferences. Hiroshi Kawamura said that the MoU will come up with tangible result to promote biogas and bio-fertiliser. Dr Muhammad Sarwar said the UAF was taking all possible measures for the clean and green technology. Speakers at an International Volunteers Day seminar held in UAF stressed upon the need to make efforts for welfare of society as even small acts of kindness can transform the world and make the society better place to live. Addressing the audience, UAF Senior Tutor Dr Iftikhar Ali encouraged participants to actively contribute their time and skills to create a positive difference in society. LAB: The Analytics Lab organised on Friday a seminar on the Punjab Climate Change Policy 2024 at the Government College University, Faisalabad (GCUF) which brought together experts, academics and students to discuss the challenges and solutions related to climate change and clean energy. Dr. Rauf-i-Azam, Vice Chancellor of GCUF, highlighted the vital role of academia and students in addressing climate change and promoting clean energy practices. Gulbaz Ali Khan, CEO of Analytics Lab, provided an overview of the USAID Power Sector Initiative Activity (Clean Energy Awareness and Youth Engagement Programme) being implemented by Analytics Lab in Faisalabad.
