BAHAWALPUR: Hasilpur City police rescued a chained worker from illegal confinement of a brick kiln owner on Talhar Road on Saturday. According to SHO Abdul Waheed, Anar Khan, the owner of a brick kiln, had allegedly tortured his worker, Abid, and chained him in one of the rooms at his brick kiln for the last 10 days for demanding his wages. Police conducted a raid on the brick-kiln and freed Abid. Anar Khan fled away from the scene. According to police, Anar Khan had not paid thousands of rupees in wages to the worker and rather threatened him with removal of his kidney to earn money. Police registered case against the suspect. A woman, Amreen Fatima (32), was killed when a trailer hit a motorcycle near Adda Pul Bazari on Khanewal-Lodhran road. The rescuers handed over her body to her family. Police took the driver into custody.
