TAXILA: One person was killed and four others were injured when a car crashed into the wall of a farmhouse in Dandi village in the limits of Pindigheb police station on Sunday, police and hospital sources said. The driver lost control of the vehicle due to speeding and rammed into the wall of a farmhouse, resulting in injuries to two vehicle occupants and three others present in the farmhouse. The injured were taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Pindigheb where one of them identified as Sardar Mehtab died. Police have registered a case against the car driver and launched investigation. Meanwhile, armed bandits struck in Taxila and Wah, depriving people of cash, gold ornaments and other valuables. In a broad daylight robbery, three robbers stormed into a mobile shop in Izzat Ali Shah Market in Lalarukh and fled with mobile phones worth Rs2.8 million, cash and a motorcycle. In the same police station limits, burglars broke into a house in Lalarukh area and looted cash, gold ornaments and other valuables worth Rs800,000. Separately, eight masked men entered a house in a heavily-guarded multi-housing society in the limits of Taxila police station and held the family at gunpoint. They then escaped with 10 tola gold ornaments as well as local and foreign currency worth millions of rupees.
