Qatar has welcomed the ceasefire in Lebanon, expressing hope that it will lead to a similar deal to end the onslaught in Gaza and Israeli attacks on the occupied West Bank, reports. In a statement, its Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Qatar anticipates that “all parties will adhere to the agreement, cease military operations immediately, fully implement UN Security Council Resolution 1701, and pave the way for a more comprehensive agreement that achieves lasting peace and complete stability in the region”. Saudi Arabia also welcomed the ceasefire and praised countries involved in negotiating it. The Gulf kingdom “appreciates all international efforts made in this regard”, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on social media, referring to the deal reached with the support of the US and France.
