QUETTA: Nawab Mir Aali Bugti, the chieftain of the Bugti tribe, has called for a grand discussion to build a consensus on resolving the country’s problems and crises, pointing out that the political situation at federal and provincial levels has failed to resolve national issues. In a statement issued on Friday, the tribal chief, who is grandson of late Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti, criticised political parties for lacking a public agenda, stressing that there was a struggle for power, with parliament being turned into an “ord­i­nance factory”, undermining democracy and violating the constitution. He noted that the unrest in provinces and the neglect of public opinion could potentially lead to a crisis. He said the situation in Balochistan was deteriorating with each passing day, with the government seemingly “absent”. He said people were afraid to travel on the highways, and the provincial government was failing to maintain peace and provide security to people. “In Sui, Dera Bugti, conditions have become so dire that human lives are no longer safe,” he said, adding that good governance could be gauged by street protests. The conditions were becoming in­creasin­gly unbearable, he said.
