Two cops die as mobile van hits tree during chase

SUKKUR: Two policemen were killed and five of their colleagues were injured when their mobile van dashed into a tree along Jafarabad link road during a chase after a car on Saturday. Police officials said that a police patrol signaled a car with some suspicious looking men to stop on the link road in SITE area but the car’s driver sped away instead of stopping the vehicle, prompting the police team to go after it. During the chase, driver of the police mobile van lost control over the steering wheel, the vehicle skidded from the road and collided with a tree along the road, they said. Constables Ashfaq Shaikh and Amir Shaikh died on the spot and their five colleagues were shifted to nearby hospital, where condition of Kashif Rind and Sohrab Aradin was stated to be precarious.
