HYDERABAD: A man accused his brother and sister-in-law of beating their old mother to death at her house in Gujrati Para locality within the jurisdiction of Tando Yusuf police station on Saturday. Sources said that Ms Kulsoom had objected to her daughter-in-law, Ms Rani, throwing garbage into a sewerage line, which led to an altercation between the two. The old woman’s son, Mohammad Ali, supported his wife and then the couple allegedly beat Kulsoom, who fell unconscious, they said. She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead. Kulsoom’s other sons, Sajjad and Mohammad Ashraf rushed to the hospital where they quarreled with Mohammad Ali. Later, they told journalists that Mohammad Ali had been mistreating their mother for quite some time. Police were said to have detained Mohammad Ali and his wife, Rani. A spokesman for police said that no FIR had been lodged so far as police were waiting for postmortem report.
