ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed satisfaction over the arrangements

ISLAMABAD: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by Pakistan for hosting the Champions Trophy next year, marking the country’s return to hosting a major ICC event after nearly three decades. A delegation from the ICC, led by Senior Manager Events Sarah Edgar, met with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi on Friday to discuss preparations for the tournament, scheduled to take place in February-March 2025. According to a PCB handout, the ICC delegation was impressed with the arrangements in Karachi, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, including security measures, facilities, and environment for visiting teams. “The ICC delegation has expressed satisfaction over the arrangements in Karachi and Rawalpindi,” the handout stated. “The security measures have also been deemed satisfactory.” Mohsin assured the delegation that world-class arrangements would be made for the tournament, with upgradation work on stadiums to be completed well before the event. “We are committed to providing international-standard facilities, enhancing the spectators’ experience,” he said. “The Pakistani nation has a deep love for cricket and will support all teams during the mega event.” Mohsin, who is also the federal interior minister, added that VVIP protocol would be extended to all visiting teams, with Lahore, Karachi, and Rawalpindi providing the best facilities and environment. The Champions Trophy will be Pakistan’s first major ICC event since co-hosting the 1996 ICC World Cup. The ICC delegation included Event Manager and Champions Trophy Event Lead Aun Mohammad Zaidi, General Manager Cricket Wasim Khan, Security Manager David Musker, and Broadcast consultant Mansoor Manj. Representing the PCB were international cricket director Usman Wahla, security director Retired Col. Khalid Mehmood, and head of marketing Salman Mesud.
