KARACHI: Another man wounded in the last week violence in Malir died during treatment at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre on Saturday. Four civilians and two law enforcers suffered bullet wounds in the Dec 31 violence when the police tried to break up a sit-in of the Majlis Wahdat-i-Muslimeen. On Jan 1, Syed Shabih Hyder, who worked at a private firm, died during treatment. Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed identified the latest victim as Ali Raza and said that he was shot in the head and admitted in the neurosurgery ward where he passed away on Saturday. The victim was married and father of two children. Later, his funeral prayers were held on the main National Highway, where traffic remained suspended for a brief period. A large number of MWM leaders and workers attended his last rites. The party announced that it would lodge an FIR against the Sindh government over killing of two protesters. Speaking on the occasion, MWM leader Allama Hasan Zafar Navi said Ali Raza had sacrificed his life for the victims of Parachinar. He blamed police and Rangers for resorting to firing on “peaceful protesters”.
