TAXILA: Courts in Attock sentenced two drug peddlers to five years imprisonment on Thursday, the police spokesman said. In the first case, district sessions Judge for the special court for the Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) Zafar Iqbal sentenced to five years’ imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs100,000 on the drugs peddler identified as Usman Saleem. He was arrested by Attock Khurd Police while smuggling hashish from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab in 2023. A case was registered against the suspect under section 9-C CNSA, 1997. In the light of the statements of the witnesses, the convict pleaded guilty. Moreover, the same judge sentenced another drugs peddlerto five years’ imprisonment besides imposing fine of Rs100,000 on him. He was arrested by Hazro while smuggling drugs in 2023. The convict was arrested under section 9-C CNSA, 1997 after recovery of hashish from his possession.
