MUZAFFARGARH: A student died while six of his class fellows were injured critically when the roof of a private school collapsed at village Wesandywali on Thursday. The incident happened at the Aligarh Public School in the Rohillanwali police area. The students of 9th class were attending their lecture when the roof collapsed. As a result, Ahmad, a resident of Iqbal Colony, died on the spot while six of his class fellows were injured. The local people called the rescuers who reached the spot, removed the building material and got the body of the deceased as well as the injured out. The injured students were shifted to the Rural Health Centre, Rohillanwali. They could not be identified. The body of the deceased was shifted to the hospital before being handed over to his family. There are reports that the structure of the school building was weak and the owner had not got its fitness certificate. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who was on a visit to the district, came to know about the incident during a meeting at the DC office. She ordered the administration as well as the education CEO to visit the incident site. She sought a report from Deputy Commissioner Mian Usman Ali and issued directions for the best medical facilities for the injured students. She ordered action against those responsible for the incident and implementation of safety guidelines in public and private schools. An assistant education officer was sent to the Wesandywali school. He registered a case with Rohillanwali Police Station against the school owner and also launched an inquiry against the administration. The DC issued orders for launching an inquiry into the incident. He said strict action would be taken against irresponsible officials and the school administration. It was the third incident of school roof collapse in Muzaffargarh district this year. ANNIVERSARY: The 21st death anniversary of the late Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan was observed in his hometown Khangarh on Thursday.
