Young man shot dead by robbers in Korangi

KARACHI: A young man was shot dead by armed robbers in the Korangi area, police said on Saturday. They added that Sahil, 28, was shot and killed outside his home in Korangi No 3, Madina Colony near the Family Park late on Friday night. Zaman Town SHO Rizwan Qureshi said that the victim and his aunt were standing near their home when two robbers, riding a motorbike, emerged there, held them at gunpoint and snatched his cell phone. As he put up resistance, the robbers opened fire on him and rode away, the SHO said, adding that Sahil sustained a single bullet wound in the chest and died on the spot. The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for a post-mortem examination. The area SHO said that a case was registered against unknown persons and the police launched a probe. He complained of lack of cooperation from witnesses. He said there was no CCTV footage available. Meanwhile, police claimed that a man shot dead by unknown suspects in Cattle Colony turned out to be a criminal. Police said that a man, said to be the accomplice of the deceased, was taken into custody and he confessed that Azhar Mehar was killed when he tried to shoot a robbery victim on Jan 2. The police claimed to have recovered the murder weapon.
