Lesco action against meter readers

LAHORE: The Lahore Electric Supply Company (Lesco) administration has penalised four meter readers of Jiabagga subdivision on account of poor performance. According to a spokesman, meter reader Muhammad Ashraf has been demoted three-step down whereas three increments of Azmat Hussain have been stopped. Similar, penalty has also been imposed on Muhammad Anjum who has been removed from the current position. Likewise, meter reader Malik Muhammad Shafiq has also been demoted to a lower post for a period of five years. Meanwhile, the Lesco teams have so far detected a total of 155,480 connections from where the customers were pilfering electricity in all its circles of five districts (Lahore, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Kasur and Okara) in 413 days of the ongoing anti-power theft campaign. The Lesco spokesman told media here on Sunday that the company has also submitted FIR applications against electricity thieves, out of which 152,434 FIRs have been registered in respective police stations, while 43,586 accused have been arrested. The company has so far charged a total of 164,692,332 detection units worth Rs 6,104,484,571 to all the power pilferers.
