TAXILA: Four people were killed and two injured in a road accident4 on G.T. Road in the limits of Wah Saddar police station on Wednesday, police and Rescue 1122 sources said. According to police sources, a speeding dumper not only hit a motorcycle rickshaw and a passenger van and hit passengers standing on bus stop and overturned. Two persons on board the passenger van and two standing on bus stop were killed while two others were injured. A couple remained stuck in the wreckage of the dumper for three hours, but later their bodies were retrieved and shifted to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila. The dead were identified Mohammad Ikram, 26, Ikramullah Khan, 22, Asma Adil, 55, and Hamid, 24, while one of the injured was identified as Mohammad Ali Janjua. On getting information, police reached the spot and initiated the rescue operation which lasted for four hours. Wah Saddar police have registered a case against the dumper driver and launched further investigation. Commuters travelling on intercity and inter district routes remained stuck in traffic for hours. The passengers travelling in public transport especially women and children suffered a lot due to humid and hot weather.
