Pakistan “remains concerned” about the escalating tensions in the Middle East due to Israel’s “expanding adventurism and disregard of the international law”. “Its [Israel’s] latest military action, aggression against Lebanon, is a grave violation of the UN charter and international law,” Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, the FO spokesperson, said. She added that this “dangerous escalation has further endangered peace and security in an already volatile region”. “For almost a year now, Israeli occupation forces have been involved in a systematic genocidal campaign in Gaza and engaged in great violations of international humanitarian law,” she said. The FO spokesperson highlighted that Israel had sent a container of decomposing bodies of “88 palestinians to Gaza without sharing any information about the identities of the victims and the time and manner of their deaths. “This barbaric act violates international humanitarian law which requires the respectful handling and identitification of the deceased,” she said. “By withholding the names and gender of the deceased the Israeli occupation forces have denied the victims their dignitiy and compounded the suffering of their families,” she stated.
