BAHAWALPUR: The Dunyapur additional sessions judge on Tuesday handed down death sentence, along with a fine of Rs200,000, to a man in a double murder case registered in 2021. According to the prosecution, convict Shehbaz had shot his sister Kausar Bibi and sister-in-law Zarina Bibi over a marriage dispute at Basti Gharibabad on June 24, 2021. Dunyapur city police had registered a double murder case (FIR No 315/21) against the convict under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code and arrested him. Later, his challan was submitted in the court. Two persons died in as man road incidents here on Tuesday. According to Rescue 1122 officials, Bilwal Bashir, a motorcyclist, died after his bike was hit by a car near Ahmedpur East city. The car driver managed to flee the scene. In the second incident, one Rana Kazim, a pedestrian died as he was hit by a speeding motorcyclists on Ahmedpur East Road. The motorcyclist managed to escape after the accident. The district administration has imposed section 144 for in Bahawalpur for two days (Oct 2 and 3), banning the assembly of five or more persons. The Section 144 has been imposed to thwart the the PTI’s protest rally announced in Bahawalpur on Wednesday (today). Two armed motorcyclists allegedly snatched Rs4.5 million from a milkman and shot at and seriously injured him on offering resistance. As per the police, Belal was targeted by the motorcyclists near Welcome Chowk. The seriously injured milkman was shifted to the emergency ward of the Bahawal Victoria Hospital (BVH), while Civil Lines police registered a case against the dacoits.
