Majority of the people hope that they will be able to live long lives as well as stay healthy as long as possible in the year 2025. The main factors that could assist in boosting longevity, including people’s health spans have been described by the research published in the past 12 months, reported . It points to three clear factors that include diet, exercise and social life. Notably, making healthy choices around these three factors may be key to long and fulfilling lives that people strive for. The importance of diet to all aspects of health have been emphasised by numerous recent studies. Moreover, evidence that healthy dietary choices could boost longevity is ever accumulating. Many have linked red meat consumption to the development of several chronic conditions, including colorectal and other types of cancer, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and dementia among these studies. In April 2024, it was found by the research published in BMJ Global Health that swapping red meat, like beef, for forage fish, could prevent between 500,000 and 750,000 deaths by 2050. As research has shown time and again, another important habit for longevity is exercise. Published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine in November 2024, a modelling study conducted using United States data found that if individuals over 40 walked as much each day as the most physically active of their peers, they could be adding around five years to their lives. Recent studies have added to the evidence which links loneliness to a higher risk of chronic diseases and early death. Going for a walk with a friend, sharing meals with family and simply making an extra effort to keep in touch with people we care about can likely be a positive change we all need in the year 2025
